Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ

Will my spray tan go orange?
No! We only use the highest quality spray tan solutions that will not go orange at all. We stock a large range of different solutions and are guarenteed to have a solution that will suit your skin type, and the colour you desire. The only way a spray tan will go orange, is if you go too dark for your natural skin tone, or if a certain solution does not react well with your skin. If you are a first time tanner, we recommend starting with something light and natural and maybe trying something darker the next time if you want to.

What do I do before getting a spray tan?
Shower, exfoliate and make sure you are not wearing any deodorant, moisturisers or makeup. Shave or wax 12 hours prior to having a spray tan. Wear or bring loose clothes to wear after your tan. Most people get sprayed wearing briefs, g-strings, or nothing at all. The less you wear, the less tan lines. We have disposable g-strings available if required for 50c each.

How long does a spray tan last?
This depends on the solution you choose to use, and your skin type. Some solutions last longer than others, but everyone's skin is different and it will vary from person to person. Most of our spray tans last up to 7-10 days on most skin types.

Is spray tanning safe for pregnant women?
Yes. Spray tanning is perfectly harmless for pregnant women,
though if you have had a child and are breastfeeding, it is advised to wear a bra and not tan your breasts or nipples.

How does a spray tan work?
A spray tan works by the application of 'DHA' onto your body,
which changes the colour of the outer layer of your skin. The tan fades as your skin naturally exfoliates itself, which is why you should not exfoliate while wearing a spray tan, and why moisturising regularly is recommended to keep your tan fading evenly and to keep your skin hydrated. Different tan brands contain various different ingredients and percentages and qualities of DHA, which is why the colour and application varies from tan to tan.

How is a spray tan applied?
Hot Stuff Spray Tans are applied by one of our professional spray tanning technicians. Our spray tans are applied with a special airbrush tanning turbine system. The tanning solution is sprayed by hand onto your body in a light, cool mist. We will instruct you how to stand while being sprayed to ensure a perfectly even tan, with no streaking, dark patches or missed spots. Our tanning method has been perfected by us, and you can be sure of a perfect spray tan every time.

Will hair extensions damage my hair?
Hair extensions CAN damage your hair if not looked after correctly. Anyone who tells you otherwise is lying. Most hair extension horror stories come from people who did not look after their hair extensions as recommended by their stylist, or who have used very cheap and nasty hair. We have tried all different hair extension methods on ourselves and can tell you which methods are best for your type of hair, we also provide you with detailed extension care information and product and hair care suggestions. Our customers and staff have been wearing hair extensions consecutively for several years, and have had no problems with hair damage.

How long do hair extensions last?
This will depend on the type of hair you choose, and how well you look after it. Indian hair extensions typically last about 4-6 months before needing replacement, wheras Russian hair extensions can last up to 8-12 months or longer with proper maintenance and care.

The tips of your extensions may need rebonding or some strands may need replacing if you intend to wear them for this long, which typically adds an extra hour or so to your maintenance time (extra $60/hr for rebonding).

What is the difference between the hair types?
The difference is the quality of the hair, and how much effort is required to look after your hair extensions. The Indian hair is naturally darker, and so has been processed more to acheive most of the colours available, which will result in them needing more effort to keep them looking and feeling soft and natural. The Russian hair extensions have not been processed as much and so feel more natural and require less effort from you for day to day wear. All our hair extension types are good quality, if you are wanting a cheaper option, the Indian hair is still excellent, it just wont last quite as long as the Russian.

Be wary of any hair extensions that are just advertised as 100% human hair, or "european quality". This is usually low grade hair which is marketed cleverly. Usually much cheaper and wont last as long. Don't trust it 100% if you don't know where it is from. You don't know what you're really getting, and even a lot of times a brand may say it is Human hair, and it can be mixed with Animal and Synthetic hair.

What does "Remy" mean?
The term 'remy' means that the hair extensions have been put together with all the hair cuticles are facing in the same direction, which ensures no tangling & matting of your hair extensions. Many cheaper hair extensions on the market are not remy hair, which means they will be difficult to look after and wont last very long. Also be wearing of very cheap extensions which claim to be remy, especially if you are buying them directly from China, more often than not, they are not remy at all.

How often do I need my hair extensions maintained?
You should have your hair extensions maintained every 6-8 weeks. This will depend on the application method you choose, how fast your hair grows, and how well you take care of your extensions. The more often you have your hair extensions maintained, the less risk you have of damaging your own hair. If your extensions are left for too long without maintenance, your hair can begin to matt at the roots which can cause hair loss when the extensions are removed. Hair extension maintenance normally takes around 2 hours for someone who has their extensions maintained every 8 weeks. Tape maintenance takes closer to 3 hours, which is why it costs a bit more.

How long does it take to apply hair extensions?
It usually takes about 1 -2 hours to apply a full head of hair extensions, though this can alter slightly depending on the method chosen, the amount of hair being applied, and the clients hair type.

Do I need to do anything before getting extensions put in?
Make sure your hair is clean and dry. The day of having your extensions applied, please wash your hair & scalp well with a cleansing shampoo, don't use any conditioner anywhere near the roots of your hair.

What products should I use on my hair extensions?
We will provide you with a hair extension care brochure instore, which reccomends the best products to use on your hair extensions. Avoid any hair products which are high in alcohol or protein, as these will dry your extensions out and could cause them to become knotty and stuck together. We use and recommend Deep Muk and Silk Products, which we sell instore and on our online shop.

Do hair extensions hurt?
No. Sometimes they can feel a little bit tight & uncomfortable for the first couple of days, but you should get used to them very quickly, and after a while, you will wonder how you ever lived without them! If you do experience any discomfort that lasts longer than a few days, give us a call, as we should be able to loosen them slightly for you if you have an overly sensitive scalp.

What happens if the hair extensions fall out?
It is normal for some of your hair extensions to fall out in the time you have them in, though most people find they lose none at all, some lose up to 10%. If you lose some hair extensions, just keep them and we can re-apply them when you have your hair extensions maintained, or individually for $1.50 per extension. It is important to remember that hair extensions are a temporary beauty product and will not last forever, but we do our best to make sure you know how to get the best life out of them :)

Are hair extensions difficult to look after?
No. It all sounds a little complicated at first, but after the first few days of having hair extensions in, they will feel like your own and you will find it is not much effort at all to look after them properly. The main extra things you need to make sure you do with hair extensions is brush them regularly and gently, and use the correct products from the start - if you are spending money on good hair, you want to use the correct products to keep them in good condition!!

What if I have an allergy to one of your products?

Or if you have overly sensitive scalp, skin or eyes.

Will eyelash extensions damage my natural eyelashes?
If you follow the directed instructions and let the lashes fall off naturally, or remove them with an oil-based makeup remover or warm water gently, you will have no problems what-so-ever. If you decide to pull them off though, you can take some of your natural lashes with the extensions. Please try not to do this. No eyelashes is not a good look.

Do eyelash extensions hurt?
No they do not hurt, you may experience slight stinging from the fumes of the adhesive while the eyelashes are being applied, but it is non-toxic and will not harm you in any way. Eyelash extensions are painless, and you will not even feel the difference once they are applied, they are not heavy or annoying at all. If you are worried about what eyelash extensions will feel like - you can request a free patch test in store.

KNOW YOUR HAIR

These days there is such high demand for hair extensions that
it is almost impossible to know what you are getting.

As well as high demand, the prices are getting cheaper and cheaper, and many technicians don't truely know what type of hair they are really using or where it is coming from.

A lot of cheap hair these days is stolen from rubbish tips, hair brushes, children and dead people, or even mixed with animal and synthetic hair.

The hair is processed so highly, bleached, coloured with fabric dyes and put in pretty
packaging, that you think what you are getting is a premium quality product.

Many people these days are very health and organic conscious, both with foods and skin care, so please if you are considering getting hair extensions, be sure
to do your research and
think this through as well.

We know our hair is ethically purchased and manufactured,
we have met our suppliers personally overseas, and we have a fantastic relationship
with them. If you would like to

WHY ARE OUR PRICES CHEAPER THAN OTHER SALONS IN AUSTRALIA

Because we are a supplier as well as a salon service. We supply other salons with our hair all over the country. Also because we are primarily a hair extension business and not a regular hair salon, we are able to offer cheaper prices than most for our products as we are a specialised service. Our Indian Hair $RRP is $600 in most salons,
and Russian is $1200 RRP.
